A different approach to tax resolution.

Three things that set us apart from national chains, and why they matter to you.

Immediate Protection

Once you engage us, we file a limited Power of Attorney and step in immediately, so you stop fielding collection notices, correspondence, and calls from the IRS or state tax authority directly. We manage communication on your behalf while we build your resolution plan.

Your Dedicated Tax Team

Every client is supported by an Account Executive, a licensed in-house Enrolled Agent, and a Tax Assistant, working together on your case from consultation to resolution. No handoffs to outside contractors.

24/7 Case Visibility

Our proprietary technology, TaxRock, gives you the same real-time view of your IRS case as your tax team. Status, activity, alerts, documentation, all in one place. No waiting for the next update.

The Truth About Tax Relief Firms

What most firms won't tell you about how they work.

The tax relief industry has a business model most firms don't advertise. Sales floors close the deal. Case work gets handed to subcontracted Enrolled Agents (freelancers paid per case). You rarely talk to the same person twice, and there is no way to see what's happening with your case in real time.

Only Enrolled Agents, CPAs, and tax attorneys are federally licensed to represent you before the IRS. Yet many chains use "case managers" who aren't. And the promise of "pennies on the dollar" gets used to close contracts long before anyone knows if you qualify.

Rockwater is built differently. Two things set us apart from every competitor in the industry:

In-House Enrolled Agents. Not Contractors.

Every Rockwater case is handled by a licensed Enrolled Agent who works here, sits at our office, and is on our team. Not outsourced. Not subcontracted. Your dedicated Account Executive stays with you from first call through resolution, and your in-house EA takes over the case work once you engage.

24/7 Live Case Monitoring via TaxRock.

Our proprietary IRS monitoring platform gives you the same real-time view of your case as your tax team. Status, IRS activity, alerts, documentation, all in one place, live. Built and owned by Rockwater.

Common questions.

Honest answers to what most people ask before reaching out.

How do I know if I qualify for tax relief?+
During your free 30-minute consultation, we review your specific situation and tell you honestly which tax relief programs you may qualify for. There is no obligation to proceed, just clarity.
What should I look for when comparing tax relief firms?+
Five things matter most: (1) whether Enrolled Agents are in-house or subcontracted, (2) whether pricing is flat and transparent upfront, (3) whether you have real-time visibility into your case, (4) whether the same team handles your case start to finish, and (5) whether the firm is federally licensed to represent you in all 50 states. Any firm that can't answer these clearly isn't worth your time.
What is the difference between an Enrolled Agent and a CPA?+
Enrolled Agents are federally licensed by the U.S. Treasury specifically to represent taxpayers in collections, audits, and appeals across all 50 states. CPAs are state-licensed and may or may not handle IRS resolution work. EAs are the specialists for tax resolution cases.
Can your Enrolled Agents stop IRS collections or wage garnishments?+
Yes. Once we file a limited Power of Attorney (Form 2848), we can take immediate action to halt collection activity while we work on your case. Wage garnishments can typically be released within one to two weeks.
Can you help if I haven't filed my tax returns yet?+
Absolutely. Unfiled returns are one of the most common issues we resolve. We pull your IRS Wage and Income Transcripts, reconstruct your returns, get you current with the IRS or state, and then negotiate the best resolution for any balance owed.
Do I still have to deal with the IRS if I hire you?+
No. Once you engage us and we file the Power of Attorney, we handle all communication with the IRS or state tax authority on your behalf. You stop getting the calls and letters.
Can you help if I already have a payment plan with the IRS?+
Yes. If your current arrangement isn't working, or if there's a better resolution available, we can review your situation and negotiate alternatives such as a lower monthly payment, Currently Not Collectible status, or an Offer in Compromise.
What does the free consultation include?+
A real conversation with our team about your situation, an honest assessment of where you stand, and an explanation of your options. No sales pitch. If we can help, we follow up with a detailed Statement of Work outlining scope and cost before you commit.
