Our Process

A structured approach to resolving IRS matters with speed, clarity, and accountability.

The quality of the outcome reflects the quality of representation.

Most tax resolution work is not slow because of complexity, it is slow because of how firms operate.

Cases move in stages, communication breaks down between handoffs, and time is lost between actions. Our process is structured differently.

From the moment a client engages us, workstreams begin in parallel — information gathering, IRS access, and case assessment — so progress is continuous rather than sequential. This reduces idle time, shortens timelines, and allows decisions to be made earlier in the process.

Real-time visibility, built into our process

In most tax resolution cases, progress depends on when the file is reviewed. Work is completed, then waits for the next review. Updates come in, but are not seen right away. Next steps follow only once the file is revisited. This is where critical time is lost.

With real-time technology, IRS activity is monitored continuously. Changes are identified as they occur and acted on without delay. The work moves forward as events happen, rather than in intervals. Clients also have direct visibility into their case, so they are not relying on periodic updates to understand where things stand.

At Rockwater, every case is managed with continuous visibility into your IRS account.

Using TaxRock, we monitor activity in real time, surface meaningful changes as they happen, and act without waiting for manual review cycles. This allows the work to move as events occur, rather than in delayed intervals.

Clients have secure access to the same real-time view as their tax team, including status, activity, alerts, and documentation. Everyone is working from the same current information at all times.

When a case moves continuously, it resolves faster, leads to better outcomes, and costs less overall.

Execution Determines Outcomes.

Tax resolution is not constrained by strategy alone.

Outcomes are largely driven by how consistently and efficiently a case is executed. Our team works directly with the IRS across a high volume of cases, managing negotiations, filings, and compliance requirements on an ongoing basis. That experience is applied within a defined process that prioritizes accuracy, timing, and continuity.

Working with Rockwater was an amazing experience. I would recommend them to anyone that needs help. A shiny star in what is known as an aggressive & intimidating industry. Easy to work with and they understand people as well as they understand taxes. I would give them 10 stars if Google let me!

Have questions?

How do I know if I qualify for tax relief?

Most taxpayers with IRS or state tax debt qualify for at least one form of relief. During your consultation, our team reviews your financial situation, income, and tax history to determine the best options available — such as payment plans, settlements, or penalty relief.

Can Rockwater's Enrolled Agents stop IRS collections or wage garnishments?

In many cases, yes. Once we begin representing you, we can often request collection holds, stop certain enforcement actions, and work with the IRS to put a resolution plan in place.

Can you help if I haven’t filed my tax returns yet?

Many people with tax debt are also behind on filings. We help clients get their returns filed properly and determine the best path forward with the IRS or state.

Do I still have to deal with the IRS if I hire a tax firm?

Once we’re authorized to represent you, we communicate with the IRS on your behalf and guide you through the process so you’re not handling it alone.

Can you help if I already have a payment plan with the IRS?

Yes. In many cases, existing payment plans can be reviewed and sometimes adjusted depending on your financial situation.
